'Lord of the Rings': Prime Filming Series in New Zealand
The cast has been cast: Like Peter Jackson's successful trilogy of films set in the “Lord of the Rings” universe, the new series will also be filmed in New Zealand on behalf of Prime Video. The streaming provider announced that preparatory work has already begun and filming will begin in the next few months.
“When searching for the right location to bring the pristine beauty of Middle-earth to life in the Second Age, we knew we had to find a majestic location with pristine coastlines, forests and mountains. At the same time, the location was also home to world-class sets and studios, highly skilled and experienced craftsmen and many other staff. We are delighted to officially confirm that we have found a home in New Zealand for our series adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s fantasy novels, The Lord of The Rings,” commented showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. “We are grateful to the people and government of New Zealand, and especially Auckland, for their support during pre-production. The generous New Zealand hospitality they have shown us has made us feel right at home. We look forward to deepening our partnership in the years to come.”
