France’s Kevin Rolland finished seventh at the 2023 freestyle worlds halfpipe, a competition won on Saturday by Canadian Brendan Mackay in the Georgian resort of Bakuriani in the Lesser Caucasus. These worlds took place in the absence of the Olympic champions of the discipline in Zhangjiakou (China), New Zealander Nico Porteous (rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee in the spring of 2022) and Chinese Elaine Guo, who was injured during training at the X-Games in Aspen (Colorado) at the end of January.

Kevin Rowland finished sixth at last year’s Olympics and the French delegation’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony in Beijing’s Bird’s Nest, his best pass in Bakuriani with 80.50 points. Returning to competition after a winter without participating in World Cup events, the 33-year-old Frenchman was unable to join the battle for the podium. The title went to Canadian Brendan MacKay (97.25 points), Finn John Salinen (95.75 points) reached its limit, while American Alex Ferreira took the bronze (93.00 points).
