It’s formal, one pretty much crushing the other
In November 2020, Sony and Microsoft launched their new consoles: Not PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While we don’t yet have the official numbers for next-generation console sales, Analyz has just revealed the sales of each company and the least we can say is that one console pretty much eclipses the other!
Sony vs Microsoft: Who will win the game in early 2021?
In fact, it was Ampere Analytics that just reported on PS5 and Xbox Series X sales.. According to the analytics company, during the first quarter of 2021 and worldwide, Sony has sold 2.83 million consoles. In parallel, Microsoft during the same period had sold approximately 1.31 million Xbox Series X / S consoles.. Assuming this data is correct, that means so Sony had exploded Microsoft at the beginning of the year 2021 by doubling its sales compared to its competitor!
We must admit, this is not surprising. In fact, since the launch of the PS5, The Japanese giant announced the sale of 7.8 million units, Slightly more than its little sister, the PS4, which sold 7.4 million copies over the same period. Moreover, many institutes agree with this Sony’s PS5 is the fastest-selling console in history ! Therefore, it is no wonder that Sony is crushing Microsoft in early 2021.
Great feature but not necessarily a leader
On the other hand, if Sony is firmly in the lead over its competitor Microsoft, the Japanese company is not the leader in gaming console sales. Actually, The first console manufacturer currently is none other than Nintendo with the Switch Comparing the hybrid console sales to the PS5 sales in the first quarter of 2021, Sony makes it seem like a little player! Nintendo has already sold 5.86 million switches worldwide, double the amount of the PS5 !
