This is what the European Commission is proposing to 35,000 young people in the European Union, through the traditional DiscoveryEU competition, by giving away the largest number of InterRail passes, which will make it possible to travel for the next few months for free up to a maximum of thirty days on mainland rail networks and some ferries . The registration platform opened on Wednesday.

As stated in registration platformOnly Europeans born between July 1, 2004 (inclusive) and June 30, 2005 (inclusive) can benefit from it. It is possible to apply alone or with friends (up to a maximum of four people per group), until March 29. The registration, which consists of indicating the identity card or passport number, ends with a quiz of some questions about Europe.

Choose by test answers

The test is not to be taken lightly. The organizers will “rank the candidates by country, according to their answers to the test and sub-question,” as indicated in the Frequently asked questions for the registration platform. “At least 35,000 young people will be selected from among the candidates who answered the test correctly and who answered the sub-question correctly,” he continued. A certain number of “winners” are determined in each country, so that everyone can benefit from it.

Selected candidates will then be able to travel “at least one day and at most one month, between 15 June 2023 (the first date of departure) and 30 September 2024 (the last date of return), the European Commission notes. Two options will be offered to the lucky ones. : a fixed option, which limits the number of destinations to two countries or two cities in the same country; or the flexible option, which leaves the possibility of visiting all countries, provided that you do not travel for more than 7 days.
