IHG’s Voco will launch in New Zealand next month
IHG Hotels & Resorts will expand its voco brand this quarter by opening three new hotels across ANZ in just over a month.
Later this month, on April 28, Foucault Melbourne Central is set to open, followed by Foucault Auckland City Center on May 12 and Foucault Brisbane City Center on May 27.
The latest destinations come four years after the world’s first voco hotel, voco Gold Coast, opened in 2018 and follows the opening of voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley in 2019, bringing the total number of hotels in the area to five.
The sustainable-minded brand now has 31 locations around the world in Great Britain, France, Austria, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Greater China.
Voco Melbourne Central will be the first new Voco hotel built in Australia and a flagship of the brand.
The hotel is located on Lonsdale Street, which is part of the city’s new 380 Melbourne skyscraper. It embodies the brand’s ‘tread light’ spirit with large green spaces planted through a partnership with eco-landscape specialists Phytogreen. Each of the 252 rooms has at least one window that guests can open to reduce reliance on air conditioning, reducing the property’s energy use.
Across Tasmania, voco will make its New Zealand debut with the opening of the voco Auckland City Center. The new hotel features the highest rooftop bar in town, Albert Bar, as well as an all-day trattoria, mozzarella and co restaurant, serving pizza, pasta, and Italian cocktails, as well as fast food. And an à la carte breakfast.
For Queensland’s second voco hotel, voco Brisbane City Center features 194 rooms with smart technology, a rooftop pool and over 1,200 square meters of reception space, while seven lobby dining venues are offered, Kraft & Co. Craft beer, local wine and cocktails days of the week.
Sustainability is a major concern for the voco brand, even when it comes to fine details like bedding made from recycled materials, while voco linen is produced according to the Better Cotton Initiative, which supports sustainable cotton harvesting. To date, more than half a million bottles have been recycled to create Voco beds in hotels.
