How to use it on your Windows PC
Google has officially launched its own internal file sharing solution, called Nearby Share, which allows file sharing between Windows and Android devices, and vice versa.
After its launch earlier this year, Google Nearby Share for Windows PC is now available to everyone.
Nearby Sharing for Windows PC allows Android users to exchange files with their PC, be it desktop or laptop, wirelessly and through Android’s native menus.
How to use nearby sharing?
Arm yourself with your Android smartphone and Windows PC. Starting !
Enable Nearby Sharing on your Android device in the app files from Google:
- Open the Files app and tap the three-line icon in the top left.
- Select Settings > Nearby Sharing.
- Enable Nearby Sharing (if it is not already enabled).
Configure Nearby Sharing on a Windows PC:
- Download the near release Share beta here and click start
- Run the downloaded file (BetterTogetherSetup) to start the installation.
- Once the app is installed, sign in to your Google account or use the app without an account.
- In the net Set up a close postname your computer and choose who can share with you.
- Set visibility for your device (Everyone, Contacts, Your Devices, Nobody).
- Once satisfied with your choices, click Done.
Use Nearby Share to send a file from your Android phone to your Windows PC:
- Open the app filesselect a file and tap the share icon.
- The selected file will be displayed with a button called Close below. push the button.
- A Nearby Sharing window will appear with one or more shareable devices (such as your Windows PC) listed below.
- Click on the person you want to share with.
Send a file from your Windows PC to your Android phone:
- In the Nearby Share app, select a file.
- Still in the Nearby Share app on your computer, click on the button that lists the device you want to send the file to. It should only take a few seconds to receive a notification that the file was successfully sent.
It might sound a little complicated, but once you install Nearby Share, you will be able to share files between your Windows PC and Android phone without having to resort to backdoor methods like email or Google Drive.
If you’re having trouble, Google advises every device to turn Airplane mode on and then back on. Also, make sure the devices are physically close.
