GeForce RTX 4090 delivers 100 frames per second at UHD/Ultra on Atomic Heart, no DLSS

Finally, a big production in which the GeForce RTX 4090 achieves a stable frame rate per second in native UHD, without the aid of DLSS. At 4K/UIltra, the flagship of Ada Lovelace’s generation never drops below 85 IPS.

Over four years after it was formalized, Atomic Heart is finally playable. As a reminder, the title was announced by Focus Entertainment in… October 2018. At the time, it was slated to be one of the first ray tracing games. This is not really a rarity anymore in February 2023. On the other hand, the game differs from other recent big productions by the simple fact that it is well optimized.

As usual, our colleague John Papadopoulos from DSOGaming put the GeForce RTX 4090 to the title test at UHD/Ultra. Unlike Dead Space 2023 or Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy – let’s not even talk about Warhammer 40,000: Darktide which was problematic at 1080p – line-up leader Ada Lovelace doesn’t need DLSS to deliver a frame rate befitting of her arrangement. Paired with an Intel Core i9-9900K and 16GB of DDR4-3800, under Windows 10 64-bit and with GeForce 528.24 driver, the GPU delivers about a hundred frames per second. The maximum number of IPS recorded by our colleague is 125; Minimum 85. In short, 60fps is pretty much kept in UHD/Ultra.

UHD / Ultra than the RTX 3080 / Radeon RX 6800 XT in principle

These results are in line with studio estimates. In fact, the recommended configuration for Ultra 4K does not refer to the GeForce RTX 4090, but to the GeForce RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 XT. So the pioneer of Ada Lovelace’s generation had to have some leeway, and he does.

Naturally, not everyone has such a powerful graphics card to play under these conditions. The six configurations offered by the developers reveal fairly contained requirements in 2023. For 1080p / High, a GeForce GTX 1080 or Radeon RX 5600 XT should do the trick.
