Galeries Lafayette Haussmann unveils a new gaming space managed by FAO Schwartz
To redesign its gaming space, Galeries Lafayette Haussmann enlisted the services of a legendary partner: New York's gaming temple, FAO Schwartz, a brand founded across the Atlantic in 1862.
The arrival of FAO Schwartz marks the final stage in the renovation of the children's area at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann. Located on the fifth floor of the “Coupole” building of the Parisian department store, it has an area of 5,300 square metres, and combines childcare, books and toys, but also ready-to-wear and shoes. A space that will be, according to Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, “the largest in Paris dedicated to the world of children aged 0 to 14 years.”

FAO Schwarz now occupies 620 square metres, and includes all the symbols that made it famous, such as the red and black soldiers, the clock tower and the giant piano. On the supply side, the American brand is introducing new toys in France such as Great Pretenders dress-up, but also products from its own brands such as FAO Plush and MyFAO Doll. “Six new exclusive experiences from some of the world’s biggest brands will also be debuting in Paris, including Barbie Styled by You, Build Your Car by Majorette, Build a Bear, Bunnies by the Bay and Jellycat, available in July.” , select Galeries Lafayette.
The FAO Schwarz brand was acquired in 2016 by California company ThreeSixty. In 2021, the exclusive management of the European licensing of the brand was entrusted to the Italian retail group PRG. In the same year, FAO Schwarz began its establishment on the European continent by opening it in Milan.
