Funeral – live now – movie review – movie

The eminent cast ensures a truly turbulent funeral.

Three generations, two families and a few friends gather at the grave of Wolf-Dieter Maurer in a village in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. All those present are interested not only in commemorating happiness and celebrating a pleasant party, as he would have wished. It was the prospect of obtaining a large part of the inheritance – which he urgently needed – that drew Thorsten the firstborn back home after so many years.

His brother Mario hopes to be given the family plumbing business. Plus, her sister Sabine, half-brother Kevin and Wolf Dieter’s second wife Gabe can still hope. But when the widow pronounces her last will, there is no more talk of a nice party…

Improvisation specialist Jan-Georg Schott (“Wellness for Couples” and “Class Reunion”) has put together an impressive compilation for his latest stroke of genius, provided only by the basic framework of history. What Charlie Huebner, David Strizzo, Anya Kling and other notable TV faces make is sometimes funny, sometimes touching and always fun.
