Ezviz C6 2K+ Indoor Camera Test: Massive Motion Detection

Ezviz C6 2K+ Indoor Camera Test: Massive Motion Detection

The Ezviz C6 2K + has a 4 MP sensor with which it can produce images of 2560 × 1440 pixels, but the manufacturer also allows you to select lower definitions (1920 × 1080, 1280 × 720 and 768 × 432 pixels). This doesn’t really matter if you store the recordings in the cloud, but it will be possible to store more of them on a microSD card… at the cost of image quality, though. So be careful! Infrared vision is of course available for recording at night, and you can also activate the WDR option to improve image quality in backlit situations, if you place the camera in front of a window, for example. The result is quite convincing.

To better reflect the image quality offered by the new Ezviz camera, we have selected excerpts from the recordings we have compared to the others, obtained under the same conditions from an equivalent camera:Eufy 2K Pan & Tilt.

The C6 2K+ camera delivers satisfactory daytime image quality. The main elements of our test scene are visible and we can clearly distinguish the features of the faces on our image column. This is clearly what is expected first of a surveillance camera. However, the Eufy camera was able to provide a more accurate and detailed view with its sensor with the same resolution, and it widens the gap in dark and light areas thanks to a better controlled exposure. The C6 2K+ image is darker, with blacks clogged and no more notable detail; For example, our white fabric’s embroideries rarely stand out. The WDR option does a slightly better result, but the 2K Pan & Tilt camera stays ahead.

By comparing extracts from recordings obtained with infrared vision, the gap widens further. The Ezviz Camera again lacks resolution and presents an inconsistent view. The items in the center and right of the scene are almost blurred and we can’t even read the cover of the book. It’s a little better on the left and we can still distinguish the contours of our image column faces. In general, the Eufy camera performs better. It provides finer rendering and better exposure control again which makes it possible to distinguish more detail in dark areas as in light areas.

In our real-world testing, the C6 2K+ camera was still very effective, no doubt helped by its optics with a field of view of “only” 79 degrees. His images allowed us to recognize a face about 4 meters away, or even a little further from the Eufy’s camera, and above all, the motion detection is very effective. Activities are detected more than 30 feet away, and human form recognition also works at this distance. On the other hand, the automatic activation of the infrared vision is very slow (6 seconds).
