England will face Welsh twice in preparation for the 2023 World Cup

England’s 15th team will face Wales twice next August in a preparatory match for the 2023 World Cup, which will start on September 8 in France, the two selected teams reported on Monday. The English will first move to Cardiff on 5 August before receiving the Welsh selection a week later at Twickenham.

Before the start of the competition in France, XV de la Rose will play two more preparatory meetings after mid-August, one on the 26th against Fiji. Australia coach Eddie Jones said the matches against the Welshman “will be crucial as we begin the extended phase of our preparations at home”.

Referring to these two meetings, his Welsh counterpart, New Zealander Wayne Bivac, said that his team will play another preparatory match at home on August 19 against South Africa. England, qualifiers for the last edition in 2019, will face Argentina, Chile, Japan and Samoa in pool D. Next year, the Welshman will play in Group C with Australia, Fiji, Georgia and a final opponent to be named.
