Dom Sibley scored 60 moves from 207 deliveries as England beat a tie in the first Test against New Zealand at Lords Stadium
Dom Sibley dropped the anchor for 60 steps using 207 balls as England fought to a draw rather than win in the fifth round of Test 1 against New Zealand at Lords Stadium.
The hosts were expected to earn 273 points from 75-plus after Kiwi captain Ken Williamson announced 169-6 at lunch, his team added 107 points to their 62-2 overnight total in 22.3 morning increments.
However, England showed no desire to attack and it was the tourists who gave themselves a glimmer of hope in victory when Joe Root’s men slumped from 49-0 to 56-2 shortly before having tea after Centurion’s exit Rory Burns. (25 of 81 balls) and Zach Crowley (2 of 25).

Sibley, who scored just three times, and a root (40 of 71) stifled New Zealand’s meager chances of winning a third 80 wicket and shook hands at the 70 mark with England 170-3, and Ole Pop (20 of 41) alongside Sibley.

Fans inside Lords were denied the thrilling finish that looked possible after Williamson’s bold statement after a morning session ended 10 minutes earlier due to light rain.
