Diablo 4 is coming to Xbox Game Pass but not for all subscribers

Microsoft confirmed last week that Diablo 4 will be coming to Game Pass soon. This will be the first Activsion-Blizzard game to join the catalog. However, the basic subscription will not provide access to the popular RPG.

Activision Blizzard is now owned by Microsoft, which therefore has control over all of its token licenses. Although the acquisition has been in effect for several months, we've been wondering when the first titles will arrive on Xbox Game Pass. During a highly anticipated podcast last Thursday, the Redmond giant unveiled the identity of the first game that will be joining the service starting March 28: Diablo 4.

This is excellent news for subscribers who are fans of the popular franchise. But as is often the case, the devil is in the details. Cary Perez, Microsoft's gaming communications officer, told The Verge Diablo 4 It will not be available to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Core, Microsoft's entry-level offering.

As a reminder, Game Pass Core provides access to online multiplayer games on the console, as well as discounts and a catalog of more than 25 games. Last Thursday, the Redmond giant revealed the updated number of subscribers registered for its service. Xbox Game Pass currently has 34 million subscribers. An increase of 36% compared to the last statistic revealed two years ago. By 2030, Microsoft hopes to reach 100 million subscribers.
