Obesity is one of the factors that lead to severe corona diseases. One weight group has a particularly positive effect, a new study shows.

Anyone who is obese doubles the risk of dying from Covid-19 – according to the terrifying finding of a new study by the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This effect was especially pronounced in people under the age of 65. But underweight patients also have an increased risk of dying from coronavirus infection, according to the results of the study. Researchers led by Lyudmyla Kompaniyets of the CDC assessed data on 3.2 million US hospital patients in their study, with 148,494 of them treated for Covid-19. In the analysis, the researchers came to the conclusion that a particular weight group is specially protected.

So those with the best chances of survival and who haven’t weighed too much or too little: According to the study, people who are on the verge of being overweight are the best protection from dangerous cycles of corona.
