Cité de l’Espace: Discover the first images of the James Webb Space Telescope

Tuesday, July 12, 2022, the Cité de l’espace presents to the public the discovery of the first live science images of the James Webb Space Telescope and a new dedicated exhibition space.

The most important site in Europe in terms of disseminating space and astronomical culture to the general public, the Cité de l’Espace is constantly reinventing itself to offer exhibitions and mediation related to current events in the space sector. The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) was launched into orbit on December 25, 2021, and will unveil its first science images on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 4:30 pm.

For this world first, moderators from the Cité de l’espace will comment directly on the images and explain to the audience the flight, anatomy and role of the most powerful telescope ever deployed to observe and understand the universe. This day will also be an opportunity for the Cité de l’Espace to present a new exhibition entirely dedicated to space observation telescopes, from Hubble to James Webb.

With its new space dedicated to the James Webb Telescope, the Cité de l’espace invites the public to discover this powerful space telescope, from its lift-off aboard an Ariane 5 rocket, through its spectacular deployment during launch into orbit or its original geometry and state-of-the-art machinery. Then visitors discover his role in observing and understanding the universe.

Anyway, on Tuesday July 12, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. (reception from 4:15 p.m.), NASA will unveil the first science images from the James Webb Space Telescope and you’ll have it in the Cité de l’Espace to be !
