Good news in Bure-les-Templiers, in the country of the Châtillonnais. Monday, June 5, the elected officials of Côte d’Or District Council decided to name a new Sensitive Natural Area (ENS). This is the Cônois-Alain Chiffaut bog, located in the town of Bure-les-Templiers, in the Forest National Park. This brings the number of ENS present in Cote d’Or to thirteen grid 635 hectares.
Native and rare habitat in the French plain
Property of the Conservatory of Natural Areas of Burgundy (CENB), the bog of Conoas extends over an area of 5.38 hectares, listed on the site Natura 2000 “The Tufa Marshes of Châtillonais “It is home to an array of marl grasslands, wet forests and tuff bogs, offering ecological amenities that must be preserved,” explains François Sauvadet, head of the department.
The tuff swamps are native and rare habitats on the French plain. They were once exploited by men to mine tuff, a light rock with insulating properties, to build chimneys and towers.
The site pays tribute to naturalist Alain Chefaot
“The choice to name the site is no small matter: it pays homage to Alain Chefeau, the naturalist, who promoted its protection and the emergence of the CENB in 1986,” stresses François Sauvadet. The management of this new ENS was the subject of a tripartite agreement between CENB, the municipality of Bure-les-Templiers and the administration.
For several years now, the Côte d’Or administration has been committed to a “policy of protecting distinctive sites of its biodiversity”. Its activity is to “protect sites that present a collective heritage recognized for its ecological, landscape and ecological characteristics that are essential to conserve, conserve and transmit, in particular through labelling in the ENS”.
“With this new label, we are pursuing our goal of reaching 21 ENS by 2028,” says François Sauvadet.
Milestones
and four in the town of Châtillonais
In Châtillonnais, four other sites have already been designated a Sensitive Natural Area (ENS) by the Côte d’Or Ministry. Located in Saint-Germain-le-Rocheux (marsh meadows and marshes, since 2013), Marcenay (pond, since 2016), Saint-Marc-sur-Seine (springs and waterfalls, since 2021) and Etalante (Cirque de la As an agent, since 2021).
In search of aquatic insects in Saint-Marc-sur-Seine
On June 5, the department entered into a management plan with the Côte d’Or Fishing and Aquatic Environmental Protection Confederation for the eastern Pacific regions of Saint-Marc-sur-Seine. It would be a matter of making an ‘inventory of aquatic fauna’ – that is, of all insects – at the level of Tufa Springs and Falls.
