BlackRock appoints Director of Climate Infrastructure Team in New Zealand – 05/23/2024 at 08:15
BlackRock has appointed Will Thompson as managing director and director of its climate infrastructure team in New Zealand, effective next July. The appointment follows the US management company's statement last year announcing the launch of a New Zealand-focused strategy through its climate infrastructure franchise.
Will Thompson will be based in Auckland, where BlackRock opened an office this year. He will be responsible for sourcing climate infrastructure investment opportunities and managing transaction diligence, structuring and closing in New Zealand.
Will Thompson joins from Garden, where he was responsible for originating, structuring, executing and managing direct private equity investments in this country. He previously held several senior positions at Global Infrastructure Partners in Sydney and London. He also worked in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse and Jarden.
BlackRock has been managing New Zealanders' retirement savings for nearly a decade, with clients including sovereign entities, KiwiSaver providers, the voluntary savings scheme, wealth and asset managers, institutional investors and brokerage firms.
