Baldur’s Gate 3 finally comes to Xbox in 2023, but it’s truncated for the Series S | Xbox One

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been available on PC for several weeks now and the least we can say is that it is definitely one of the best games of this amazing year 2023. The title developed by Larian Studios continues to peak at 96 on Metacritic! If PlayStation 5 players will be able to enjoy it in a few days, unfortunately this is not the case for Xbox Series X|S owners.

The Belgian studio has been very transparent from the start about the reasons for not having a simultaneous release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In fact, he made it clear that he couldn’t get local co-op to work on Xbox Series S.

Despite recently mentioning a 2024 release, it seems Xbox didn’t want to wait any longer and miss out on the smashing success of Baldur’s Gate 3. Thus, the US developer and manufacturer made a drastic decision and agreed to cut the game. Xbox Series S version of local co-op, allowing for release this year!

Larian Studios CEO Swen Finke says he and Phil Spencer agreed on this solution yesterday. It also specifies that shared saves will be part of the Xbox Series X|S and PC versions.

I’m very happy to confirm that after meeting with @XboxP3 yesterday, we found a solution that will allow us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year, something we’ve been working on for some time. All the improvements will be there, with split-screen co-op on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen co-op, but will also include cross-save between Steam and Xbox Series.

There’s no denying that 2023 is a good year for Xbox Series X|S RPG fans, although we’ll have to wait longer than others to enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3. In the meantime, you can already immerse yourself in the game on PC. and as of September 6 on PlayStation 5.
