At the Socio-Cultural Center there is a compatibility between science and sports

The Science Festival began on Saturday, October 7, and continues until Friday, October 13. The Social and Cultural Center did not skimp on ways to enhance the transfer of knowledge during this second edition, which was placed under the slogan of sports.

In October, at the Socio-Cultural Center, colorful illustrations mix with Halloween decorations. However, “fear” is not the topic of this new edition of the Science Festival. As the title suggests, ‘Science Gets Your Shirt Wet’, for seven days it’s all about encouraging proud kids to combine knowledge with sport. “It’s the Olympic year,” explains Mokhtar Kahlal, deputy for community life and sports.

Exhibition, interactive board and games

That’s why the structure did not skimp on its entertainment proposals. It is organized into two main centers and begins as soon as you enter the building. “The idea is that the children can move around a little, discover things, but at the same time have fun,” describes Alexander Zinn, director of the Socio-Cultural Center (CSC), before enumerating the activities that make up the first pole. “We have a video of an episode of”It’s not rocket science: exercise is physical and chemical“, which we run all day long. We have an exhibition and we have activities for kindergarten. »

In other words, while some watch the video, others can focus on the few cell-themed demonstration panels, while little ones have the opportunity to create viewable 3D drawings. The second pole, in the “Performance Hall,” makes visitors sweat more. An interactive wall has been installed, a concept from Quebec, which includes several games that can be played alone or in teams using a ball. For example, it is possible to compete to solve more or less difficult calculations or place a point on the chart as a team. While you wait for your turn, fun games are available.

“The Science Festival is dedicated to the entire region. »

Assistant for community life and sports

“It is open to the general public, this Wednesday all day and every evening throughout the week from 4pm to 6pm,” explains Alexander Zinn. As part of this process, the Socio-Cultural Center also accommodates 14 classrooms. Like on Monday afternoon where about thirty CM2 students were able to interact via video with Olympic champion Axel Clerget. “In terms of questions, the questions ranged from whether he was married or not, to his diet,” explains the CSC director.

If Mokhtar Kahlal is convinced that the number of affected schoolchildren is higher than the first number, the elected official regrets that the majority of classes come from Verte Bois. “Last year, our number was much smaller, even those from the neighborhood did not come. There, they were mobilized, which is very good. “But what bothers me is the lack of facilities from other areas of the city because the Science Festival is for the entire area,” he says in End of system display.

Before adding: “Saint-Dizier schools have the right to attend the Social and Cultural Center. I was hoping this would happen, because I know they are working on this topic. Then, I think it can’t be done because of communication and vision problem. » Maybe testing will really change next year? Mukhtar Kahlal hopes so. “If we reach the entire city, we can say that we have succeeded.”

The third edition of the Science Festival is already in preparation

No program has been prepared, but the topic has already been decided. In 2024, in the city of Bragard, the third edition of the Science Festival is supposed to be about girls in this environment. “This topic is very interesting. There are opportunities in this sector, but they do not come naturally,” says Abdelkader Abbasa, the new principal of Anne Frank College, who was present during the Science Festival presentation. “As someone coming from high school, I know that it is It’s a real difficulty, so if we can actually start something in elementary or high school, we should do it. »
