ASM Claremont: Carnage in the third row with Fisher’s new hit
Seven ! This is not the number of families from the famous card game, but the number of injured players on the Clermont team who play in the third row. While Kilian Texieront was hospitalized after injuring his shoulder last Friday in Brive, it was Alexandre Fischer’s turn to take the path to the medical room, which he unfortunately frequents regularly.
Coming out in Brive (60th), ASM seemed to be felt high behind the thigh; Repeated injury to this player who has just chained four match cards (including three spells) by showing his efficiency.
Van Tonder (hernia) absent for three months
Of the nine players (eight professionals plus Tixeront) in Juno Gibbs’ group, seven are unfit for this first meeting of 2023. Another bad news, Jacobus van Tonder, who was concussed against the Stormers, passed tests that revealed a herniated disc in his bottom Back injury that will result in surgery and three months of being unavailable.
As a reminder, here is the full list of the injured third line: Arthur Iturria (Ichiu), Judiciel Canquerette (forefoot), Lucas Dessin (concussion), Kylian Texeront (shoulder), Jacobus van Tonder (herniated disc), Besile Yato (knee) and glitches in Muscle), Alexander Fisher (Ishio).
Killian Tixeront (ASM Clermont) pack to receive Toulouse
Cyriac Gilly on the paper?
With only Fritz Lee, Loïc Godener and Thibaud Lanen present, the Clermont staff had almost no room to maneuver in the third row. Hugo Saracen, who played 13 minutes in Toulouse in October, is also injured (ankle) and unavailable.
The contingency options seem to be on the side of the Espoirs, even with players who have yet to get a taste of the Top 14. Yoni Tuataane has played 7 minutes in Racing, but if the staff prefers a jumping profile, it’s Cyriac Guilly (19) who could make his debut on the pro score sheet.

Jono Gibbs could also consider converting Apisai Naqalevu, as is Rochelais Levani Bothia, a three-quarter player who also often plays in the wing-third position.
Medical Joker: Stuck in the salary cap
Furthermore, ASM does not appear to be able to bolster its workforce by hiring medical clowns. Why do some clubs own and use this space and not Claremont?
“It’s a good question. I’m not in a position to talk about other clubs’ performance… We will continue to look for internal solutions to prepare for our matches week after week.”
Juno Gibbs (ASM Claremont Instructor)
Did the Clermont coach ask his boss to hire a Joker (Joker)? “It’s not possible at the moment,” the New Zealand coach assured us. It is clear that ASM will not have room to maneuver regarding the salary cap. Obviously, the regulations prevent him from spending more salaries…even if the club has money in the coffers.
