The second test was conducted from the start by Luna Rossa who won at the start and immediately went for cover, gaining meters on all six sides and defending the right of the most favored pitch. On the latter two sides, the New Zealanders got into a worrisome situation thanks to a split in the fourth gate that had them rebounding a few seconds, both in the fifth gate and at the finish line, just eight seconds after Luna Rossa.
