Keri Reeves, Air New Zealand Director of Aircraft Programs, said: We really encouraged Safran to think outside the box and push the boundaries of what we can do with the Business Premier seat to improve configuration and customer experience. The creative work was almost completely completed during the Covid-19 crisis which added a layer of complexity. We were unable to travel to the Safran site to validate our ideas and concepts, so we built two identical models, in New Zealand in our innovation lab and at Safran to ensure we had a common interpretation of the design and the right feedback on technical development, layout and functionality.

Vincent Maskre, Chairman of Safran Seats, says: We are pleased to offer Air New Zealand a product dedicated to ultra-long haul flying that meets their needs to offer their passengers options. These seats are the result of incredible work between our two companies and will allow for a better journey for all Air New Zealand passengers. The creation of this seat testifies to the remarkable qualities of the experienced teams at Air New Zealand and Safran Seats based in the UK.”
