A fire broke out on the roof of Somerset House arts centre in London, with around 100 firefighters tackling the blaze.
The institution said on the X programme that Somerset House staff and the public were “safe”.

Fire breaks out in heart of London. A fire broke out on the roof of Somerset House, an arts centre in central London, on Saturday, August 17. The London Fire Brigade said around 100 firefighters were currently mobilised to tackle the blaze. The fire is currently localised. “On part of the roof of the building”select the brigade on X.

Somerset House is famous for the many films that have been shot there, such as: love in reality (2003), two James Bond tracks or even Sleepy Hollow By Tim Burton (1999).
