(Reuters) – The South China Morning Post reported on Thursday, citing an internal memo, that Cathay Pacific Airlines will close its test base in Canada and plan to close its test bases in Australia and New Zealand as well.
The airline will review its pilot bases in Europe and the United States later in 2021, according to the newspaper, which adds that the measures could affect hundreds of jobs.
Cathay Pacific had previously closed cabin crew bases overseas and regional airline Cathy Dragon shut down to help it preserve cash during the pandemic, resulting in more than 5,900 jobs lost.
The airline did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
