Just a few days before Summer Game Fest, Sony is just kicking off the festivities with a state of play filled with new features. This is especially the case for Ballad of Antara, a new open-world Souls-like game developed by Chinese studio Tipsworks that promises to be as interesting as it is captivating.
A new Souls-like game is coming to PS5
After failing to get news about the possibility of a remake or remake of Bloodborne, Sony will at least give us an interesting new Souls-like game: Antara's poem, a new game developed by Chinese studio Tipsworks. The trailer that was revealed allowed us to discover the beginnings of a strange two-dimensional world – the world of the living and its equivalent “Bara” – which should both be explorable with mechanics similar to fairly successful ones like Souls, Lords of the Fallen. The trailer remains a mystery, but it gives us a glimpse at a technically stunning game and a world we're already looking forward to exploring.
Free-to-play is planned for 2025
In a post shared on the Playstation blog and written by Tipsworks studio, we learn more about Ballad of Antara. In the game, the basic gems of the living world will be kept in Para's world and you will then have to go there to free them. These two “layers” of the same world will be explorable and each area of the World of the Living map will have its equivalent within Barra. The game will have different biomes, various animals, several bosses, but also different characters called Emissaries that we must be able to embody. Finally, the studio explains that Ballad of Antara will be free-to-play, can be played solo or with up to three players and will benefit from long-term monitoring while implementing additional areas, stories, and characters. See you in 2025 on PS5 and other potential platforms to discover this promising new title.
