Zelensky reacts after Biden mistakenly calls him 'Putin'
The Ukrainian president returned, today, Saturday, to the slip of the tongue that his American counterpart referred to, on Thursday, during the NATO summit.
When introduced, Joe Biden called Volodymyr Zelensky “President Putin.”
Another fatal mistake made by the US President in the midst of the presidential election campaign.
“And now I would like to give the floor to the President of Ukraine, who has great courage and determination. Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin.Joe Biden, concluding his speech on Thursday, July 11, at the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., mixed up the name of the Ukrainian president with that of his Russian enemy, adding to the list of blunders plaguing the Democratic presidential campaign.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy returned to his counterpart's gaffe on Saturday during a press conference following his meeting with Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris. Asked about Joe Biden's confusion on Thursday, Zelenskyy set the record straight “It's a mistake. I think the United States has been very supportive of the Ukrainians. We can forget some of the mistakes, and I think that's the case.”
Not Biden's only misstep
Joe Biden immediately corrected his mistake on Thursday, adding before leaving the stage: “He will defeat President Putin. President Zelensky. I am very focused on defeating Putin.”
Later on Thursday, Joe Biden confused the name of his running mate Kamala Harris with that of his rival Donald Trump at a press conference. Another mistake by the US president, as voices are rising even in his own camp calling for him to withdraw his candidacy for the presidency.
