What is the peak time?
Primetime refers to the primetime transmission on classic television. This is when ratings are particularly high. Thus, the prime time period is the most important period for broadcasters and advertisers. In Germany, programs starting at 8:15 p.m. are considered primetime primetime, although media scholars also apply the term to the entire evening program until 11 p.m.
Peak time in Germany – why 8:15pm?
In Germany there is another reason why 8:15pm is establishing itself as prime time. The reason for this is the “Tagesschau”, which has been broadcasting in the timeslot from 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm since it was first broadcast nearly 70 years ago. Many viewers now expect programs to start at 8.15pm – even if they are not a “Tagesschau” audience.

Prime time on the radio
Prime time is known as “drive time” on radio and varies between 6 am and 9 am and 4 pm and 6 pm. At these times, passengers on their way to work or home are reached privately – usually in a car, hence the name. On the other hand, in the so-called daytime, only a smaller part of the audience is reached.
