What’s new in Microsoft Teams: Use live text in spontaneous meetings
Not only did editors or note-takers later create a report based on the meeting, they waited a long time for the transcription job in Teams. However, it took until mid-2021 for the live German-language version to be supported in teams – and only there at planned team meetings. If these requirements are met, you can simply start Live Transcription in an ongoing session by going to Settings and selecting Additional Settings (…), and then clicking on the Copy menu item. The default transcription language is English. To change it, click “Transcription settings” in the upper right corner and select the desired language.

Important: Only one language can be selected for team meeting transcripts; The change of language affects all participants. And: Profanity is controlled by Microsoft’s speech recognition.

For ad hoc meetings, you can download the text from the chat screen after the meeting. For channel meetings, the transcript will be in the Recordings and Transcripts tab after a certain period of time. The quality of the texts is quite acceptable, provided they are not spoken too quickly and are relatively free of dialects.

To activate the feature, open the “Share Content” item in the top bar of the meeting, select “Standout” as the presentation mode and then select the presentation you want. Alternatively, you can also start the presentation and then change the presentation mode to “Standout” in the menu bar.
