“We love science fiction so it’s always a pleasure!” At Utopiales in Nantes, enthusiasts attend the 22nd edition

The twenty-second edition of Utopiallis began in Nantes on Saturday 29 October 2022 at the Cité des Congrès. An opportunity for thousands of science fiction enthusiasts to meet many authors and scientists.

“It’s a video game space here we can try!” In Nantes, thousands of daily visitors no longer know where to head to Utopiales.

Video games, board games, conferences, cinema, libraries, everyone can find what they are looking for in the large space of the Cité des Congrès.

“I like to attend conferences, I find the topics covered very interesting”, Celine explains. Short films are also excellent. He pursues Nolwenn who accompanies her. “Especially since we can vote for whomever we like.”

In fact, the Utopiales Short Film Competition awards several prizes each year to science fiction directors from around the world, and to increase visibility by showing them to the public.

The vision for the directors as well as the authors: “We just released Titan Terrible, a collection of sci-fi-themed comic books set in Nantes. The Utopiales is really a great opportunity for us to talk about it”notes Tom Sixmill, author and volunteer with the association Turbo time travel.

Also an opportunity for amateurs to create their most beautiful costumes and sharpen their imaginations: “It’s been 5 years since I discovered Utopiales and since then I have come every year”Remember Nolwenn.

She is passionate about the world of steampunk, characteristic of de l’île de Nantes in particular, and which imagines a future imbued with Victorian aesthetics in 19th century England.

She drowned her companion in this universe: “Personally, I learned to read with Jules Verne, I love science fiction, the questions you take up. And you can find it all at Utopiales!”

So science fiction is approached from all angles. There is even a board game room to pass the time between two conferences.

Dozens of tables were filled with families, friends and Ludinantes artists who organized the Utopiales play area.
