unbelievable! The images show the details of the aurora borealis seen from space

European astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti shared images of the aurora borealis seen from space with her Twitter followers. She observed the particularly impressive event of the aurora borealis, known as the Australian aurora, which appear as bright green waves hanging high in the Earth’s atmosphere.

On August 21, the astronaut posted a tweet in which she said, “The Sun has been very active lately.” She adds: “Last week we saw the most impressive aurora borealis I’ve seen in over 300 days in space!”

Aurora borealis occur when high-energy particles emitted from the sun via the solar wind interact with the atmosphere and direct Earth’s magnetic fields to the planet’s north and south poles. Therefore, one of the names given to this phenomenon is the aurora borealis. It is an amazing sight, observed from Earth and viewed from space.

The Earth’s atmosphere consists mainly of oxygen and nitrogen, so collisions between solar particles with nitrogen, emit green and purple lights that are observed in the aurora, while the interaction between oxygen and sun particles emit red or purple-green colors.

Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti is Italian and a member of the European Space Agency (ESA). It is currently part of the Minerva mission to the International Space Station (ISS), which launched on April 27. The astronaut, who became famous in May by sharing videos on TikTok, will return to Earth next month, and hopefully, he’ll be able to see the aurora from here.
