To avoid paying extra baggage at the airport, she wears five kilograms of clothing
A 19-year-old Australian woman, whose baggage weight at the airport exceeded the allowed limit, decided to wear 5 and a half kilograms of clothes to avoid paying more.
The scene takes place at Melbourne Airport, Australia, where 19-year-old Adriana Ocampo plans to join the city of Adelaide with a friend. Géo magazine reports that the girl then realizes that the hand luggage she intends to carry with them is very heavy: more than 12 kilos, while the allowable limit is 7 kilos.
“The only way to lighten our bags is to carry them on ourselves”
In desperation, they then decided to wear enough clothes for their bags to pass control. “We figured the only way to lighten our bags was to carry them on ourselves, so we started wearing our jackets and coats,” explained Adriana Ocampo. “In addition to layers of jackets and sweaters, I wore baggy pants in which I put T-shirts and an iPad (…) I had about six layers of clothes and stuff in my pocket.” While they were “hysterical” laughing, the passengers were disturbed to see their plane lifted.
suffocating trip
but it was a waste of time for the two friends, whose maneuver did no more good to the company than it was obliged to borrow. And indeed, Jetstar Airways accepted them for boarding, without paying an extra $35…but fining them $65. The company continues, “While we certainly see the funny side of the situation, we have instituted carry-on baggage limits to make things fair for everyone.” To top it all off, the two girls had to make the 1 hour and 20 minute journey wearing many layers of clothing.
