All Blacks fans who want to travel to France for the World Cup final against the Springboks will have to pay big bucks just for plane tickets.
As in 1995, the Rugby World Cup final between New Zealand and South Africa will be played at the Stade de France on Saturday night. Twenty-eight years ago, it was the Springboks who won 15-12 after extra time to claim their first world title. They have since won twice, in 2007 and most recently in 2019. The All Blacks, winners in 1987, 2011 and 2015, are also looking for a fourth title and can count on the support of their fans. Even if they can’t all be there. Because of the high cost of plane ticketsthe New Zealand Herald reported.
One fan spent 10 thousand euros..
According to travel agency Flight Centre Travel Group. Flights arriving in time to watch the final range from NZ$3,000 to NZ$5,000, or €1,651 to €2,751.. And it can be even more expensive, as the Auckland Daily newspaper points out. “Last week we had a client who bought last-minute first-class tickets to watch the final, paying $17,000 (€9,353, editor’s note). That’s a lot of money to go and see the All Blacks, it was. She’s a very enthusiastic client: there are always flights available, and it’s certainly not going to be cheap at the last minute, but there are still ways to get there,” Victoria Courtney, director of the travel agency involved, told the New Zealand Herald. Supporters will still have to get tickets, for those who don’t have any. To do so, you’ll have to go through the official online resale platform. Note that the final will be refereed by Englishman Wayne Barnes, a referee who has not only left fond memories in both countries…
