To be world No. 1 on Monday, the Blues must beat Japan on Sunday (2pm) and hope to score positives in England-New Zealand and Australia-Ireland on Saturday night.
This is one of France’s fifteenth goals in this autumn Tour: to finish the year at number one in the world, taking a week this summer after its second victory in Japan (15-20, July 9). Obviously, they must overcome the current 10th nation in the world and then hope to get two favorable results in two more tests scheduled for Saturday. The first condition: a draw or defeat for Ireland, at the top of the world ranking, on Saturday evening (9:00 pm) in Dublin against Australia. Condition two: the New Zealanders must not win by at least sixteen points at Twickenham v England (Saturday 6:30pm).
If Clover XV wins and the All Blacks open against the English, Fabien Galthié’s men will find themselves third in the world rankings on Monday morning, regardless of their margin of victory (if there is one) against the Japanese.
