The European Union warns Moscow against exploiting the alleged Kremlin attack

On Thursday morning, the Ukrainian president arrived at the headquarters of the International Criminal Court, the court that issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin in March. Mr. Zelensky, whose surprise visit to the Netherlands was framed by important security measures, arrived around 10 am at the authority’s headquarters in The Hague, an AFP correspondent noted.

Dressed in his usual green clothes, flanked by several of his staff in combat fatigues, he was greeted by the Ukrainian President, the head of the judiciary, Pyotr Hofmansky, and other high-ranking officials. The Ukrainian flag was raised next to the banner of the International Criminal Court. The International Criminal Court, set up in 2002 to try the worst atrocities committed in the world, shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, opened an investigation into crimes committed in Ukraine.

Dutch news agency ANP reported that Zelensky, who is on his first official visit to the Netherlands, landed at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on Wednesday night after attending the Nordic Summit in Helsinki. On Thursday morning, the Ukrainian president paid a visit to the Dutch Senate in The Hague, according to the National Port Agency, before heading to the International Criminal Court. Zelensky is also expected to deliver a speech titled “No peace without justice for Ukraine,” in the presence of Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra, according to Dutch public broadcaster NOS.

It is also scheduled to meet with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre de Croo.
