The cult series “Neighbours” is now continuing
Cult soap series “Neighbour” (German: “neighbors”) will be I continued. Just months after Britain’s Channel 5 aired the final episode of the popular Australian programme, streaming platform Amazon Freebie announced a new season on Thursday. Many of the actors return to their previous roles.
The Amazon Freevee streaming platform comes to the rescue with neighbors
New episodes are due to be filmed in Australia next year, and a world premiere is scheduled for the second half of the year. The free platform also wants to offer thousands of episodes from the past few years. “Neighbours” is shown on Freevee in Great Britain and the USA, on “Prime Video” in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. It was not clear at first if and when the series could be watched in this country.
Channel 5 canceled Neighbors after 37 years for financial reasons. An average of 2.5 million people watched the last of around 9,000 episodes in the UK on 29 July. In the 1980s, more than 20 million people watched it at some point in time. Several actors have become known through Australian soap operas, including Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.
