Suddenly Fry’s Electronics has stopped operating
Headquartered in San Jose, California, the private company was a family business. It was founded in 1985 by three Fry brothers with the goal of being “an electronics retail store in Silicon Valley to provide a one-stop shopping environment for high-tech professionals.”
“It is hoped that the cooling off process through this structured process will reduce costs, avoid additional liabilities, reduce the impact on our customers, suppliers, property owners and partners, and increase the value of the company’s assets to its creditors and other stakeholders,” Fry explained on his website.
Other details about his sudden disappearance were scarce.
Many retail sites have wacky themes. For example, Burbank was inspired by the science fiction movies of the 1950s and had a UFO ornament that smashed through the outside of the store. Its location in Phoenix, Arizona once housed an ancient Aztec temple, and its shop in Houston, Texas was inspired by the state’s oil history.
