Banyana Banyana of South Africa has arrived in New Zealand for the 2023 Women’s World Cup on Friday, according to the women’s national soccer team’s social media reports.
The South African squad is complete in New Zealand, after the arrival of the second group of players in Wellington on Saturday morning. The team traveled in two separate groups due to insufficient business class seats on the maiden flight from Johannesburg. The South African Football Association has pledged to ensure that the entire squad travels to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in business class. The first group left South Africa on Wednesday evening (5 July 2023) while the second group left the country on Thursday (6 July 2023)”we read Safa Net.
The South African national team consists of 23 players. One last friendly match awaits Baniana Banana, captained by Desiree Ellis, against Costa Rica at the Nga Buna Wai Sports Complex in Christchurch, New Zealand on 15 July 2023. This will be the second time that South Africa will participate in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. . Their first match of the 2023 Women’s World Championship is scheduled to be played against Sweden on July 23, 2023.
South Africa, the CAF Women’s Champions, is one of four African teams that have qualified for the 2023 Women’s World Cup. The other three nations are NigeriaMorocco and Zambia.
