Shooting in Times Square, tourist injured, shooter still wanted
Police identified the teenager involved as “extremely dangerous.”
New York police are searching for a 15-year-old boy suspected of fatally shooting a Brazilian tourist in the leg at a Times Square sports store. He then shot twice at a police officer who was chasing him through the city center streets before taking refuge in the subway.
Police identified the teenager as a resident of a migrant shelter in Manhattan who arrived in New York from Venezuela late last year. He is also considered a suspect in an armed robbery in the Bronx and another shooting in Times Square last month, police said.
“The current priority for the city, police services and our federal partners is to get this man out of harm’s way.”John Chell, chief of patrol for the New York Police Department, said at a news conference Friday afternoon, calling the teen “crazy.”“Very dangerous”.
