Shane van Gisbergen already has some experience in gathering, including a partial program in Australia on the wheel of the Skoda Fabia R5. In New Zealand, he will remain aboard a Skoda, set up by Team RaceTorque, with Glen Wetson as co-driver. The pair finished second in the opening round of this season’s Australian Rally Championship at the National Capital Rally in Canberra.
The New Zealander, the current leader of the Supercars Championship and fifth in the GTE-Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will add another series to his arc with this first participation in the World Rally Championship. “I’ve been around for a long time and used to go to all the rallies when I was young to watch Rally New ZealandShane van Gisbergen said.
