The German Confederation’s women’s road to the 2023 World Cup in Australia: the beginning of preparations

Preparations for the national team’s World Cup around national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg begin on June 20, 2023 in Herzogenaurach, where a week-long training camp will take place. A preparation match will also take place against the Vietnam national team on June 24, 2023. Kick-off will be at 6.15pm in Offenbach.

However, the start of preparations had already been spoiled by Bayern Munich. There are only a few weeks left until kick-off in Auckland, New Zealand. Until then, the team surrounding coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg will have two more preparation matches before the first match with the German Football Association’s participation in the group stage on July 24, 2023.

These duos are still pending for DFB’s pre-tournament selection:

The Federation Women’s Road to the 2023 World Cup in Australia: Line-up Announcement

Coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s team will start in Australia on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 10:30 am German time against Morocco. In fact, the final line-up would not be announced until shortly before departure. The final squad for the women’s national team will only be decided after the second preparatory match i.e. the duel against Zambia on July 7.

DFB Women in the 2023 World Cup: When will the team leave for Australia?

The second training camp in Herzogenaurach will run until July 9, 2023. A day later, the team will fly to Australia, accompanied by the entire coaching staff. There, DFB’s Central Coast selection, about 100km north of Sydney, moves on to the World Cup quarter-finals.

After arduous negotiations and months of wrangling, it is now clear: ARD and ZDF will broadcast the 2023 Women’s World Cup matches live from Australia and New Zealand. Concretely, this means that German football fans will be able to watch all matches and all goals in the tournament from July 20 to August 20 on free TV.
