Satisfied guests and vendors at the street food festival in Bad Herrenalb
The number of visitors exceeds expectations
6,000 people use the show in the town hall square and in the adjacent monastery area within three days. Some reveal what attracted them more than others.
Thousands of visitors embarked on a culinary journey around the world at the 2022 Streetfood Festival in Bad Herrnalp. This is a result that clearly exceeds expectations.
“We were overwhelmed by such a large number of visitors,” enthuses organizer Tom Sanchez, who is delighted with the successful three days of the event and reports about 6,000 visitors. “The weather was great from Friday to Sunday, and this attracted many guests who were able to embark on a culinary journey around the world with us.”
With the three-day hustle and bustle in the town hall square and in the adjoining monastery area, several tables and benches provide enough space for meeting up with friends or entertaining chatting with strangers.
Locals meet travelers
“It’s a great event,” the eleven Kaiserslautern women who are touring the Black Forest with an instructor get excited and now spontaneously decide to stop for a snack on the way back.
Because the locals are by no means the ones who wander into the heart of the spa town out of curiosity to look, enjoy and feast.
Those with a sweet tooth wait patiently
“Romanian meat rolls are very tasty,” said Oliver Lehmann, who is especially excited about the show as a Cevapcici fan. Everywhere, other visitors curiously scan the array of merchandise located on eleven rotating platforms, some of them brightly decorated like food trucks and serving delicacies from different countries.

“We started with tapas in Portugal because it’s the country we don’t know yet,” explains Petra, who is traveling from New Zealand with her husband Russell. She has a date with a friend in the town hall square.
“There’s a lot of variety and reasonable prices here,” she says, looking forward to a portion of Hungarian lago with sour cream and feta cheese. You patiently join a long line of people waiting. Self service is a matter of course.
Music up to enjoy
For entertainment there is music with guitar, double bass and vocals from “Acoustic Blend Band”. A visitor who managed to get a seat very close to the music commented: “The spa town was missing something like that.” She says, “This is great.” “We will definitely go back there again.”
Shali spontaneously goes to a street food festival with her boyfriend Thomas and the dog Luba for dinner.
“We’re on our way to Belgium and staying here in Herrenalb. The atmosphere is great and it’s nice to find not only meat and grilled foods, but also vegetarian and gluten-free foods.
