Rugby 7: New Zealand, the first team qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics

New Zealand confirms its leading position. Winners in Singapore over the weekend, the All Blacks Sevens won their fourth HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2023 title. In doing so, they became the first men’s team to join France, automatically qualifying as hosts.

With the win, they also won their first title in Singapore since 2005. After qualifying his team, half Leroy Carter said: “Getting our place in the Olympics was our number one goal. Now it’s over, we just have to finish the streak.” In doing so, they join the French team, which automatically qualifies as the host country.

On the women’s front, the New Zealanders also earned their qualifications. The Americans and Australians have just validated their tickets for the Parisian competition. Ireland, Fiji and Great Britain are still battling for the last place in the qualifiers.

The Rugby Sevens event will take place from 24-30 July 2024 at the Stade de France in Seine-Saint-Denis.
