After seeing a whale stranded on a beach in northern New Zealand, the former Black Ali Williams launched a whale rescue operation, which ended well.
It was an unexpected adventure that happened to Ali Williams. The old second line from All blacks, Who passed under the colors of RC Toulon between 2013 and 2015 before spending the 2016-2017 season in Racing 92, participated in an impromptu rescue of a whale stranded on a beach in Mangawhai, north of Auckland, New Zealand. The operation kicks off when a former rugby player, who was traveling by helicopter with his companion’s brother, spotted the whales. After the plane landed, the two men did what they could to allow the animal to return to the sea, after rescuers quickly joined in. After more than an hour of intervention, the group managed to free the whale, allowing it to find its natural environment.

If this emergency intervention succeeds, Project Jonah will revert to social networks about the conditions that allowed the whale to return to the sea, particularly regarding the reasons for hanging a rope from the animal’s tail. After advising the respondents first to “stay away at all costs,” the association determined that such a maneuver was “extremely dangerous not only to rescuers but could also cause serious whale injuries.” In addition, “Project Jonah” adds that “it is important that this be done in an appropriate and safe manner” even though the association ensures that it understands “the desire to return the animal to deep waters.” Biologist Catherine Peters, from the Department of Marine Environmental Protection, said daily New Zealand Herald That “the spine is really very fragile” in whales, adding that “by pulling its tail, you are putting a lot of pressure on a very sensitive part of the animal with the risk of impeding it.”
