La Défense station was closed as of 10pm on Friday evening due to smoke, RATP reported on X (formerly Twitter). Consequently, traffic was disrupted on RER Line A, Metro Line 1, Transilien Line L, and Tram Line T2. RATP noted that “trains pass without stopping,” explaining that “communications at the station are impossible.”

The RATP at Firefighters confirmed to Le Parisien newspaper that intervention was already underway, but were unable to provide further details. After announcing the resumption at 11pm, RATP on X indicated that the station would remain closed “until further notice”… before indicating shortly after 11pm that the station was able to reopen.

This incident occurred when the station was expected to be particularly crowded on Friday evening, as American star Taylor Swift was performing her second concert at La Défense Arena, which can be reached from this station. The RATP noted that the people concerned were “invited to take the RER A train from the immediate vicinity of Nanterre-Préfecture station”. on. For passengers on Line 1, as La Défense is the last stop, they had to get to the Esplanade de La Défense station.
