R17 E-Tech, sports coupe, predecessor to the Fuego, revised in electric mode?
In the wake of the electric R5 and 4L models, Renault designers could well have reinvented the R17.
For its future electric range, Renault has specialized, step by step, in modernizing the old glories of its range.. A new Renault 5 will be introduced from 2024, and it will be a 5-door sedan that will, in a way, be Clio’s alter ego. Then, a revised 4L sedan and SUV mode will come as a boost in 2025.
The first will partially replace Renault Twingo and especially Renault ZOE, pioneers of battery cars in 2012. The second will first complete Captur before replacing it. The latter covers the range of thermal, plug-in hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines, but it won’t offer a 100% electric version, which is a key area it will leave for the new 4L.
R17, the idol of the 70s
A new wave of retro that will allow nostalgia to buy a little car of yesteryear, it is the soul that counts, equipped with the latest technology. But Also to create a facility and at the same time increase the bill as in Mini.
In this move Renault could also revive the Estafette in electric mode, Volkswagen did not hesitate to know. Buzz who is already turning heads his way. And to go further, a contemporary reinvention of the original Renault 5, the R17, the 1970s sports coupe of versatility.
R Seventeen to follow the marketing language of 4Ever and other EcoFives. But among general manufacturers the coupe was no longer in vogue, and the latest attempt, derived from the Laguna 3, did not convince against the excellent merits of the type. Too bad then for the R17’s comeback not to happen. An epoch-making symbolic archetype that capitalizes on the image of his speech’s popularity, would have had an aberrant and appropriate rhetoric.
