Quiberon. The furniture in the Louison-Bobet space will be reused or sold

Main works start on 1any March 2024, in the Louison-Bobet space, in Quiberon (Morbihan). The municipality would completely renovate the building, and instead of just throwing away its equipment and furniture, the elected officials and a team of municipal agents had this desire to work for sustainable development.

Towards various city services and then to associations

“We want to reuse the interior furniture. So the list of equipment for the Louison-Bobet space was sent, at the end of 2023, first to the city services and then to the associations, so that they can make a choice about what they need.“Explains First Deputy Gildas Quindo. A large part of the dishes have already gone to the Résidence Autonomie, while local associations have until Tuesday, January 9, 2024 to reserve the equipment of their interest for free (hundreds of chairs, dozens of tables, kitchen equipment). Everything will be on display. It remains for sale during the Cabosserie de Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, on February 17, 2024.

In the meantime, lots will be offered for pre-sale to everyone, individuals and businesses. Among them, we find stage equipment and kitchen items made of stainless steel. The photovoltaic panels for the sports hall, on which work began earlier, will also be put up for sale.

Reuse materials

“The goal is not to make money but to avoid creating waste,” Supports Matteo Gossi, Director of Technical Services for the City. For this reason, in renovating the Louison-Bobet space we seek to reuse the building's materials as much as possible. The idea of reuse invites us to rethink construction in a frugal way, while ensuring the continuity of the history of the place. »

The limestone floor will therefore be preserved and covered with resin, the interior doors will be reused for the worktops, and the facade stones, replaced by wood cladding, will be reused for the exterior path. As for the roofing shingles, they will be crushed to serve as mulch.

“The structural elements will be reconfigured, while the toilets, which have been preserved, will be renovated using colorimetry.”Adds Lawrence Cano, the city's director of construction operations.

80% of the external green spaces will also be preserved. It is not always a simple process as you have to work a little harder to find the new use for the materials, and then find companies that are willing to take on this environmental challenge.
