Poland is “ready” to hand over its MiG-29 fighters to the United States
Poland will deliver MiG-29s to the United States, which will be able to make them available to the Ukrainian army.
On Tuesday evening, Poland said it was ready “immediately and free of charge” for all of its MiG-29 aircraft at the disposal of the United States, and transferred them to the Ramstein base in Germany.
“The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consultation with the President and the Government, are ready to transfer all their MiG-29 aircraft to the Ramstein base without delay and without charge and make them available to the Government of the United States,” declared the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a communication.
At the same time, Poland is asking the United States to provide the country with used aircraft with the corresponding operational capabilities. Poland confirms that it is ready to immediately create conditions for the purchase of aircraft.
“The Polish government also asks other NATO allies – owners of MiG-29s – to work in the same direction,” the statement said.
Poland said on Monday it would not give up its combat aircraft to Ukraine, which is demanding air support against Russian jets.
