Please note that Call of Duty MW3 is installed on your Xbox SSD without having to purchase the game Xbox One

While many players are waiting for the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, some are waiting for it to release on Xbox Game Pass or are simply not interested, but it is very possible to install the game on their console without even knowing it.

Modern Warfare III takes over your SSD without you owning it

Since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was not pre-ordered, we were surprised to find that the “Campaign” and “Multiplayer” modules had been installed on our console without our request. The latter takes up 24.1GB and 19.3GB respectively on the Xbox Series

You may also be affected if you have the “Call of Duty” hub installed on your console. A little clarification, we own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and it’s definitely something to do with this unwanted installation. We don’t know if Call of Duty: Warzone players have experienced the same installations, so feel free to let us know in the comments if you’ve been affected too.

Although this practice is very intrusive and unwanted, it is obviously possible to delete these two files with just a few clicks.

Remove the campaign and multiplayer from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III on Xbox

  • Go to “My games & apps”
  • Go to “Call of Duty” and select Menu (Start)
  • Select “Manage game and add-ons”
  • Select “Call of Duty”
  • Uncheck “MWIII: Campaign” and “MWIII: Multiplayer”
  • Choose “Save changes”
  • The game will then refresh for a few seconds and delete the files in question

Call of Duty becomes a platform

Since this year, Activision has made some changes to the way the Call of Duty license is presented to players. Thus, the name of the game no longer appears clearly in the list of games we own, in favor of the simple game “Call of Duty.”

Today, it is already “Call of Duty” that we launch in the list of installed games on Xbox, and only in the main menu do we choose the experience in which we participate, whether it is Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3 or Warzone. A paradigm shift that allows Activision to centralize everything, but also promote all of its titles at a single glance.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be available on November 10 on Xbox One, Xbox Series
