Peter Molyneux announces his game “on Albion soil” and more promises | Xbox One
Peter Molyneux is the character who defined the history of Xbox and video games. After leaving Lionhead in March 2012 to found his own studio 22cans, the creator has just announced a new game, but it’s important to read between the lines carefully.
Albion, as in a fairy tale world?
We’re starting to know Peter Molyneux well and all his advertising is now tinged with a touch of doubt until we really see the fruit of his labor. Peter Molyneux has a habit of overselling his promising games and wonders, and he recently apologized for his lies.
As his studio was about to launch his next game based (again) on NFTs, Legacy, Peter announced the sequel on Twitter. Thus we learn that Molyneux’s new promise is “a new game taking place in the country of Albion, called MOAT.”
There are no further details to delve into at the moment, but we do know that this new game is planned for PC and consoles and that it will feature “familiar” mechanics with those in other games like Fable, Black and White, or Dungeon Keeper.
The most interesting thing in all of this is definitely the mention of the world of Albion, which represents the world of the Fable series, but also represents the former name of Great Britain.
Is Peter Molyneux trying to cover his tracks to sell his game? It seems unlikely that his new title will actually be related to Fable, which Microsoft has the license for, but you never know. One thing is for sure, the new game will introduce ideas never before seen in any game. We won’t do it again.
