The new home project of one of the strongest teams in the oval world has been revealed after a long work
Anyone new to rugby and discovering that the Crusaders have been one of the strongest teams in the world for the past 20 years might also be surprised back home. In fact, the Rossoneri play their home matches at AMI Stadium in Christchurch, a factory under 19,000 seats and not very nice. This stadium is tiny but an emergency solution that has lasted for 10 years: the February 2011 earthquake caused devastating damage to the old AMI stadium that was demolished, leaving the Crusaders without a real home.

However, it seems that this period is about to end, because for the whole of 2021 we have been working on a new stadium project. Christchurch: Some details are missing but nothing seems to be getting in the way, and in January there will be a crucial vote to approve the construction of the plant. It will be a modern facility with a capacity of 30,000 seats, which, according to the initial plan, is expected to be ready by June 2025.
Crusaders CEO Colin Mansbridge said, “It’s a bright and airy but also enclosed stadium. Fans will feel very close to the match.” Among the next steps, there will also be a proposal to give the structure a Maori name, which will be intended not only for rugby, but also for other sports as well as events and concerts.
The structure of the stadium would be 232 meters long, 195 meters wide, and 36 meters wide at its highest point, due to the towers overlooking the stadium: there was some doubt about the plays of light and shadows they could cause, but almost all Crusaders games take place in the evening or with sunset on any Well, there is no problem.
